§ 2-143. Composition of the board; vacancies.

  • Vacancies shall be filled by appointment by the board of supervisors for the unexpired term of the member replaced. Members shall serve until a successor is appointed except in the event that prior to the expiration of his or her term, a member ceases to retain the status which qualified him or her for appointment to the board, his or her membership on the board shall immediately terminate and there shall be a vacancy on the advisory board to be filled by the board of supervisors.

    A vacancy shall exist and shall be reported to the board of supervisors whenever a member fails to amend more than three consecutive regular meetings of the board without good cause as determined by the chairperson of the board and entered on the minutes of the board.

    Members of the board may be removed for cause pursuant to standards adopted by the board and approved by the board of supervisors.

    Persons previously appointed as members of the drug abuse advisory committee pursuant to Section 5606.5 of the State Welfare and Institutions Code shall become members of the board and shall continue to serve until the expiration of their terms. provided they meet the other conditions for membership required pursuant to this ordinance.
