§ 26-96-020. Public hearing—Zoning and interim zoning.

The planning commission shall hold at least one (1) public hearing after notice as
provided in this chapter, prior to taking any action on any proposal to amend this
chapter; provided, that if the planning commission, or the department of planning,
in good faith is conducting or intends to conduct studies within a reasonable time
for the purpose of, or holding a hearing for the purpose of, or has held a hearing
and has recommended to the board of supervisors of the county the adoption of any
zoning ordinance or amendment or addition thereto, the board of supervisors, to protect
the public health, safety and welfare, may adopt as an urgency measure a temporary
zoning ordinance, in accordance with Title 7, Chapter 4 of the Government Code of the state, placing the area which is the subject of such
studies or hearing in an S district (study district).
