§ 11A-1. Purpose and intent of chapter.

(a)

The purpose of this chapter is to protect and enhance the water quality of the county's watercourses pursuant to and consistent with the Federal Clean Water Act and amendments thereto and to assure compliance with the conditions set forth by the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) as requirements of stormwater discharge permits.

(b)

It is the intent of the board of supervisors in enacting this chapter to protect the health, safety and general welfare of the county's citizens by:

(1)

Controlling the discharge to the county's stormwater system from spills and the dumping or disposal of materials other than stormwater.

(2)

Reducing pollutants in stormwater discharges to the maximum extent practicable.
